20,000 Dialogues is partnering with the Interfaith Youth Core in a dynamic and groundbreaking campus campaign for religious cooperation and understanding –
A Different Kind of Conversation About Religion
. Using the 20,000 Dialogues model, students and communities are using Cities of Light: The Rise and Fall of Islamic Spain to come together for dialogue and to take action through community service projects, starting this fall, 2007. The purpose of this campaign is as simple as it is profound: to shift the current debate about religion in our society away from the two polarizing camps that currently dominate popular media outlets.
The
Engaging Muslims: Religion, Cultures, Politics
project was created to offer the community of Anchorage, Alaska the opportunity to engage in a self-education program by joining together to study and learn in depth about Islam. Using the 20,000 Dialogues model, organizers are hosting multiple film dialogues and events to raise awareness.
Mr. Omar Almobarak, Director of the
Almobarak Cultural Center
of Hot Springs, Arkansas offers ongoing education, interfaith dialogue training and a speaker’s bureau to his community. Mr. Olmobarak uses UPF’s films and 20,000 Dialogues in a predominately Christian community, which has been a significant challenge and one that continues to make an impact in the level of awareness about issues of Islam and religious diversity in Arkansas.
The
Peace Not Prejudice
Campaign is a proactive and positive effort to further facilitate understanding about Islam and Muslims in local university and college communities across the United States. Started by the MSA National, 20,000 Dialogues is working with the
Interfaith Youth Core
and
Americans for Informed Democracy
to offer students films and dialogues on campuses all over the country this fall.
